Dear MUB,

Let me make it clear that I am not trying to be rude or insulting but I am extremely upset at this point. Before I am a “teacher”, I am a parent.  Now, I teach both 4th and 5th form so I will be expected to return to work. However, my problem and biggest concern are my 2 children. One is in grade 1 and the other in grade 3.

I am a single mother because their father decided I was no longer fit for him so he moved on with a woman who is old enough to be his daughter. Now, MUB, I don’t have anywhere to put my children. Dealing with remote learning was a hassle itself because I don’t understand why the teacher kept sending so many assignments to complete in one day.

They are not old enough for me to leave them at home, and as easy as it may be for people to say, leave them with someone, I know my children and they are very disgusting so I don’t feel comfortable leaving them with a stranger.

MUB, I called my principal and explain my situation. Mostly to find out if I can bring them to work with me because right now, that is my only option although I am uncomfortable about it. MUB, this woman is telling me that I can’t bring them unto the school compound and it’s not her problem and she had a very stinking attitude.

MUB, I am trying to be level-headed here because I feel like calling her back and giving her a piece of my mind. I don’t understand how the Ministry of Education can make certain decisions without looking at all angles of the situation. I am 100% sure that I am not the only teacher who is facing this problem.

I am not asking to stay home. If Ministry requires me to be at school, I will be there. What I want to know is, as a parent, what am I suppose to do with my children who will be home during the time that I’m supposed to be at work. If I leave them home alone, police will come for me, and as my principal rudely stated, that is not her problem.
